Therapies

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the primary treatment modality used within the clinic. Treatment involves the insertion of fine, single use sterile needles into specific acupuncture points on the body. Acupuncture is commonly used to support a wide range of physical and emotional health concerns. From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, treatment aims to support balance within the body and encourage the smooth flow of Qi through the meridian system.

Many people seek acupuncture during periods of stress, hormonal changes, fertility treatment, recovery from illness or chronic health concerns. Some research suggests acupuncture may support relaxation, pain management and nervous system regulation.

Chinese Herbs

Chinese herbal medicine is often used alongside acupuncture treatment, or prescribed remotely following an online consultation. I prescribe both concentrated herbal formulas and bespoke raw herb decoctions, depending on the needs of the individual.

In the UK, Chinese herbal medicine primarily uses plant based substances, including roots, bark, leaves, flowers and seeds. These herbs are carefully combined into formulas based on traditional Chinese Medicine principles and the individual pattern of symptoms and presentation.

Chinese herbs are naturally complex and contain a wide range of active compounds. In Chinese Medicine, formulas are designed to work synergistically and are tailored to the individual. Herbs are prescribed by fully qualified practitioners and not available to buy off the shelf in the same way as standard supplements.

Herbal medicine is commonly used to support concerns relating to hormonal and menstrual health, fertility and postpartum recovery, digestion , stress related symptoms, sleep and general wellbeing. Herbs may be prescribed in a range of forms, including raw herb decoctions, granules, capsules, tinctures and topical applications.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic acupuncture is a treatment that combines facial acupuncture with broader whole-body approach. Many people choose cosmetic acupuncture as a natural alternative to more invasive cosmetic procedures.

Treatment is intended to support circulation, relaxation and overall skin health, and may improve the appearance of skin tone, texture and fine lines over time.

As with all acupuncture treatments, cosmetic acupuncture also considers wider factors such as stress, sleep, digestion and overall wellbeing.

Compassionate Inquiry Talking Therapy

Compassionate Inquiry is a psychotherapeutic approach developed to help explore the relationship between emotional patterns, stress, trauma and physical health.

This style of talking therapy creates space to explore underlying patterns, increase self-awareness and develop greater understanding around emotional and behavioural responses.

I currently offering online sessions via Zoom. Following booking you will receive a confirmation email, with details for joining the remote session.

Tuina

Tuina is a traditional Chinese bodywork therapy often used alongside acupuncture treatment. It uses a range of massage and manual techniques, including kneading, rolling and acupressure, with the aim of supporting relaxation, movement and overall wellbeing.

Like acupuncture, Tuina is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is tailored to the individual presentation.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion, often known as moxa, involves the warming of acupuncture points using dried mugwort herb.

Within Traditional Chinese Medicine, moxibustion is traditionally used to support warmth, circulation and overall vitality, and is often used alongside acupuncture treatment depending on the individual presentation.

Moxibustion is also sometimes used during pregnancy as part of support for breech presentation, alongside ongoing care from a midwife or medical team.

Guasha

Guasha is a traditional East Asian therapy involving the gentle use of a smooth tool over the skin.

It is commonly used to support circulation, release muscular tension and promote relaxation, and is often incorporated into treatment alongside acupuncture and other bodywork techniques.
